I began tutoring mathematics when I was 16 years old and have had at least one private student ever since. I have tutored every age from 6 through college. I have tutored many very bright students in search of enrichment but most of my students have needed to work hard to be successful in mathematics.

I have worked with many students struggling with autism, anxiety, ADHD, even Downs syndrome. I have over 40 years of experience identifying math problems and addressing them.

In addition to tutoring I had a successful 35 years career as a classroom teacher. I started my career teaching mathematics for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (juvenile corrections). After that I taught remedial mathematics in the public schools of Springfield, Ohio and then moved on to teach 7th grade math for over 30 years in Oakwood, Ohio. For most of my time in Oakwood, I ran a program that helps develop social skills through game playing. Over the years I have worked with dozens of students (including many on the autism spectrum) through that program.

I am now a part-time private math tutor and part-time retiree. Life is good.
